OK - so i have an unusual but very cool piece to offer to the forum.

For sale is my Hamilton Model 22... which i picked up over the weekend at a local auction.

it is a US Navy issue from 1942.

for the uninitiated these are small clocks (about 70mm across by 45mm thick) used on ships... in their day they were known as extremely accurate timekeepers. this one is obviously WW2 era.

i have no service history on the piece... and i have no idea what it was doing in my neck of the woods or how or why the original owner acquired it.

what i can tell you is that i wound it up and it has been keeping good time for the previous 48 hours or so. the movement looks clean. there are a couple of small scuffs on the crystal the most notable between the hand pin and 7.

i believe the watch is all original.

unfortunately it did not come with the box. if there are any questions or anyone has any requests for additional photos please do not hesitate to email or PM me.

asking $950.

OK - so i bought this chronometer at an auction and it ran well and kept good time (about -20 seconds / day) for the first 8 or 9 days... i let the power reserve go to zero and wound the watch again and it is no longer working - ticks sporadically if you move it - but not keeping time. the watch needs a service. i suspect it just needs to be cleaned and re-lubed but my watchmaker has not yet looked at it. if anyone is interested i'd offer it at $650 as is... if there is no interest i'll bring it into my watchmaker the next time i pay him a visit.
